End of the semester is two weeks away, so that means every high school student’s nightmares are coming true, fall finals.
Last year our principal, Mr. Will, made a little adjustment to finals last year for Palestine High School students. He is giving students a chance to opt out of finals.
Do you guys want to know how? Well, to qualify, you have to
- have passing grades higher than a C+ in both quarters.
- miss more than 6 days. This includes both excused and unexcused absences.
- have 5 or few tardies.
- have no academic behavioral issues. This means if you cheat, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or have similar misconduct, you will have to take a final in that class.
- have no in-school suspensions, fewer than 3 detentions, fewer than 3 behavioral logs, which may include a combination of discipline, or other multiple policy violations.
There are a few exceptions. Students enrolled in AP or Dual Credit college courses may be required to take final exams as part of the college course requirement. It depends on the course requirements in those situations. The high school is unable to let students opt out of those finals.
As long as you follow all the rules you will be able to opt out of all the high school finals.
