With Thanksgiving break coming up, many students are excited –both for the dinners they will attend and the various other activities they will do! We asked a few PHS students about their upcoming Thanksgiving break and here’s what they said.
Some people are having a very lax Thanksgiving break, Kaelynn Keith saying that her plans other than her Thanksgiving dinner consists of going to her grandmother’s and, we quote, “Crying cause my stomach hurts.” A very valid thing to say after a Thanksgiving dinner! After all of the Thanksgiving festivities, Kaelynn will just be staying home over the rest of her Thanksgiving break.
Hannah Nethery said that she will be going to possibly three Thanksgiving dinners, but she will not be traveling at all for any of those. Hannah’s favorite food(s) that will be on the Thanksgiving table are deviled eggs, pinwheels, and German Chocolate cake. Hannah is definitely a team turkey kind of person. She said “Turkey is so much better.” Hannah has one activity they do every year: they do a Christmas drawing out of her grandpa’s hat. Hannah is not excited for snow. In fact, she actually said, “No snow, Thanksgiving doesn’t come with snow; it’s for eating a lot of food!”
When asked about snow, Holden Sipes said, “No, I hate snow.” Few words, but very, very true for many of us. His plans for the long weekend include spending time with family and going to a cabin in the woods.
Devin Lawyer will also be attending a couple of Thanksgiving meals. He won’t be traveling, but he will be sleeping and going to basketball practice. He said “I’m looking forward to eating a lot of food and then going into hibernation for a couple days,” which I am sure most everyone agrees with.
New student Lily Holcomb will only be attending one meal for Thanksgiving, but she is ready for the mashed potatoes and ham, even saying that, when picking between turkey and ham she would pick “Ham, because it tastes better.” It seems a lot of people prefer ham over turkey this year.
Mirah is going to three Thanksgiving meals, and will be traveling to Indiana this weekend. Besides going to Indiana, her other plans are “Sleep, sleep, sleep, and more sleep.” With all three of her Thanksgiving meals, she will be looking forward to pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Mirah’s family has already put up Christmas decorations for this year.
Bennen will only be attending one meal. He will also be traveling to Trimble this weekend, and he plans to, and we are directly quoting him here, “do reckless driving” (a copy of this quote will be sent to local authorities. Please be safe out there, people). Bennen also believes that Christmas decorations should only be put up two weeks before Christmas. When it comes to the turkey versus ham debate, Bennen is on the side of turkey, simply because the skin tastes better.
