Deciding what to do for the rest of your life is a tricky task. It can be very stressful and demanding. To me, finding out what I wanted to do was just the first step.
After stressing about not knowing what I was meant to do with my life, I finally realized how much I like dealing with medicine and learning about it. After having this realization, I need to figure out where I would like to go to further my education.
Doing a lot of research and making a list of colleges with a good pharmacy program consumed a lot of my time in the past months. After a lot of research, visiting the colleges was a very important part. To me, if I am going to be living somewhere, I want to be able to see everything about everything. I want to be able to compare all of the colleges to figure out where will be the best fit for me.
Applying to these colleges by the deadline was a very stressful, yet rewarding time. Filling out applications is different for every college, but most are similar. There are multiple sections to fill out about various things and then, usually, an essay portion. Some let you decide if you want to include your essay, but some require it. To me, it was important to include these essays so that the colleges could know more about me. The reward comes if and when you get accepted into the college.
I still have yet to decide where I want to go to college, but the visits have helped me narrow it down quite a bit. One thing I would recommend to people wanting to further their education is to visit more than one college because it could change your whole opinion about where you want to go.
Another important part of going to college is filling out scholarships. I thought the application to the school was bad….until I started filling out scholarship applications! It is VERY time consuming and quite stressful. It is stressful because a lot of scholarships are due around the same time. Because there are a lot due around the same time, I have to know how to manage my time and balance my work wisely. I would say this is the most demanding part about going to college…..so far.
