This Wednesday, November 6th, was the PHS Veteran’s Day program. It is held every year, set up by the history club, to show our appreciation of the veterans in our community.
The program was held in the gym. There were decorations made by grade schoolers, poems read, thank you letters read, as well as speeches that were prepared and read by the PHS history club.
There were veterans that came from all branches of the military.
From the Army: Jeff Bay, Scoot A. Campbell, J.D. Christine, Darrell Cupp Jr., Douglas R. Henry, Tom Herlocker, David Kirchhoff, Brady P. McGuire, Rayhan Padgett, Paul Postlewaite, Kevin Ramsey.

From the Air Force: Scott Mendenhall, Todd Monti
From the Navy: Cole Wesner, Bradley Fulling

The program started with opening statements by Mr. Plew, the PHS Social Studies teacher. Then Kinsler Beabout recited the Pledge of Allegiance. After the history, Devin Lawyer announced all veterans in attendance and thanked them for their service. Rayleigh Mullins and Brylee Krick read thank you letters to the veterans and were followed by Brylee Tingley and Kailyn Shoulders, who both read Veteran’s Day poems. Finally, Mr. Plew’s grandfather, Dwight Piper, a retired U.S. Marine, spoke about his service in Vietnam.
Refreshments prepared by Mrs. Inboden’s classes were served afterwards to veterans and their families.
