The United States has than 5% of the world’s population, has 46 % of the world’s civilian-owned guns. The ability to own guns in the US is protected by the 2nd amendment of the constitution. Now in recent years the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld some firearms restrictions, such as bans on concealed weapons and on the possession of certain types of weapons, as well as prohibitions on the sale of guns to certain categories of people, which includes individuals under eighteen years of age, convicted criminals, the mentally disabled, dishonorably discharged military personnel.
