The Palestine High School Pay It Forward Club will be collecting cans for the local food pantry and possibly for hurricane relief from hurricanes Heleine and Milton during trick or treating.
Members of Pay It Forward will be handing out flyers the week before Halloween that tell Palestine residents to put out their cans on their front porch by Halloween night. Members will then be collecting the cans on Halloween night.
Pay It Forward is a volunteer club at PHS that is open to all students. This year’s student leaders are Kinsler Beabout and Raylynn Rodgers, and although the adult sponsor is Mrs. Hyde, she stresses that “this organization was started by a student several years ago and continues to be run by students. I am here only to help facilitate their ideas.” Students choose where and when to help. Some of the plans for this year include volunteering at a nursing home and the Humane Society..
The next Pay It Forward meeting is Wednesday the 16th. Everyone is welcome.
Pay It Forward group has been around for about eight years and over the years, it has helped a lot of people and organizations, doing everything from helping nursing home residents make Valentines to painting playground equipment to doing yardwork for a local historical site.
