Trapshooting is a gun sport where a row of 5 people line up on a shell shaped concrete pad and take turns shooting at clay disks with shotguns. The trapshooting sport originated from England in the 18th century where they would launch pigeons from cages and shoot them to practice their marksmanship.
The Palestine Trap Shooting Club, based out of the Gordon Trap and Skeet Club, and is run by Tyler Inboden, Damien Tingley, and Brian Frost. Students participating in the club range from freshman to seniors in high school. Even though it is called the Palestine Trap Club, it still takes students from Robinson, Hutsonville, and other schools in the Crawford County area willing to participate.
The Palestine Trap Club participates in the ATA(Amateur Trap Assiociation), which tracks shooter records all across the country. If you are a good shooter you can also get a scholarship for professional trap shooting.
The Palestine Trap Club is a new shooter friendly environment with plenty of assistance and tips from long time shooters and fellow students. It is recommended you have your own shotgun, which can range from a field gun that’s 12 to 20 gauge, to semi-auto, to actual trap guns. If you do not have access to one, though, a gun can be provided for when you shoot. There is more than just the average shooter to shooter games; there are also games where a line of up to 20 people shoot at one clay pigeon.
If you love shooting guns to hunting doves, this sport is for you.
