On March 26th, the OPH baseball team traveled to Red Hill to play their 8th game. The Wildcats’ luck finally turned as they won their first game of the season. Not only was it the first win of the season, but it was also the first conference win.
Max Lewis started out on the mound, and Bentley Cook was the catcher. Ace Coulter started on 1st base, Arron Johnson was on 2nd, Riley Blank was at shortstop, and Lucas Blessing was on 3rd base. Cole Littlejohn started in right field, Rowan Bailey was in center, and Caden Goodwin was in left field. Riley would come in to relieve Max from pitching in the 6th inning.
In the top of the 1st inning, OPH would not score any runs, but in the bottom of the 1st Red Hill would score 1 run. In response OPH would come out in the 2nd inning and get 2 runs to take the lead. Red Hill would tie the game 2-2 after their second time up to bat. That would be the last run that Red Hill would score for the rest of the game. The Wildcats scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning, and 1 run in the 5th and 6th inning. The final score of the game was 7-2.
Hopefully the OPH Wildcats baseball team can keep their luck going as they play at Neoga tonight. If you can’t make it to the game tonight, the boys play at Hutsonville against Robinson on Thursday, March 28th. Good luck boys!
