On Wednesday, March 20, the Hutsonville- Palestine Lady Tigers softball team took the field for the first time this season against Red Hill. For the five seniors, Alaina Holcomb, Zoey Beabout, Addi McNair, Michaela Fuller, and Ahlya Abel, this is their last first high school softball game.
Everyone took the field with anticipation and some first game nerves but our performance would have never showed anyone was nervous. Everyone was eager to hit the ball and score some runs.
With nine starters, Lady Tigers only have three players to spare. Alaina Holcomb started in left field, Brynn Griffin in centerfield, Ahlya Abel in right field, Gracie Alumbaugh started at third, Lily Holcomb at shortstop, Zoey Beabout at second, Izzy Monan at first, Ayla Cook catching, and Hayden Monan started pitching. There would be minor changes to positions throughout the game in order to give everyone a chance to play.
After the first inning, the Lady Tigers were up by 2. By the third inning, the Ladies were up by 5. The fourth quarter is where we really took off scoring 7 runs leaving the Red Hill Salukis down by 12. The fifth inning was the Salukis last chance to score before the ten run rule would come in to play and the game would be called. The Salukis did not score in the fifth and the game ended with the Lady Tigers taking the win 12-0.
This was a great first game for the Lady Tigers and they hope to keep crushing their opps this season.
The Lady Tigers play tonight in Marshall at 4:30!
