Tom MacDonald, a Canadian/American rapper and songwriter, known for his song “Fake Woke’, teamed up with Ben Shapiro, a right-wing political commentator known for his incendiary takes, to make a spitfire rap song called “Facts”. It soared to the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Store, sitting above recent pop and hip-hop hits from the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Timberlake and Jack Harlow.
Shapiro making his rap debut, shocked many people who have reacted to it, including his other co-stars on the Daily Wire, his co-owned podcast and talk show.
Ben Shapiro is known to be a fast talker, was able to stop the show when it came to his verse in the song. However, it was kind of controversial. In this verse he threw some shade on a few popular artists. One of them being Nicki Minaj, with the line “Nicki take some notes, I just did this for fun. All my people download this, lets get a billboard #1.” Nicki however came back with a tweet saying, “Not bad. Congrats on #1. But it def sounds like Roman’s Revenge when the beat first came in…idk.” and “Wait till they ‘wake up’ and listen to what Ben Shapiro is saying in #Facts. The outrage on this will be a tad bit delayed.” Another artist, Lizzo, known or Pink from the Barbie movie, was also mentioned in Shapiro’s rap. Shapiro rapped “Let’s look at the stats, I’ve got the facts/ My money like Lizzo, my pockets are fat,” causing some surprise to most listeners.
The popular rap star has not responded. This controversial song did, however, rack in over 6 million views in two days and reached #1 on Itunes charts very quickly.
