Our OPH boys took on the Effingham Flaming Hearts, Tuesday evening.
JV starters were Ryerson Beabout, Lucas Blessing, Cadin Goodwin, RJ Hays, and Owen Hackett. The boys didn’t have much confidence this game, as they were losing badly. JV played their best, and ended up losing 32-74.
Varsity starters were Riley Blank, Max Lewis, Trevan Webster, Graydon Kincaid, and Rowen Bailey. In the first quarter OPH had a slow start. The boys were up and down at times in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, OPH and Effingham were very close the whole time. By the end of halftime the score was 24-24.
In the third quarter, OPH took a small lead against Effingham. This didn’t last long, as Effingham went on a run. The boys played hard this whole game, especially in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, OPH got more behind and missed some shots. This eventually caught up to them, and they ended up losing to Effingham 45-53.
Trevan Webster got a dunk in, passed by Riley Blank. Trevan hasn’t got to play much since he was hurt most of the season. I am sure this was very exciting for him!
Mr. Blank, high school PE teacher and former basketball coach said, “The boys missed some shots, but they played very well overall, and it was a good game.”
The OPH Boys next game is Monday at Hutsonville High School at 6pm. This game is against Dietrich. Go support out OPH boys, as it would be very appreciated!
