The girls’ first basketball game, against the Robinson Maroons,  took place Tuesday, November 13 at the Palestine Grade School. Unfortunately, the Lady Pioneers lost to the Maroons, 23-38.

“We worked very hard, but I know we can do better in future games.” said Myka Messinger, a member of the Lady Pioneers team.

At the beginning of the game both teams played really well. The home girls played really good defense and offense.  Considering it was their their first game, the Lady Pioneers didn’t play badly. The Robinson Maroons were shooting threes like no other, making most of their shots, which contributed to the Pioneers’ loss.

In the second half, our girls played well, making most of their shots.  Two of our girls, Stephanie Rudd, Katie Draper, were injured during the second half, but Stephanie was able to go back in. They all had to cooperate to get through the second half of the game.

“The girls played very well and need to work on boxing out and sliding defense, but overall it was a very good game!” said spectator Brendyn Piper.
