On Saturday, January 13th the OPH Wildcats traveled to Beecher City to take on the CHBC Bobcats. To say that this was a difficult game is an understatement. Even though the boys tried playing their best, they would end up losing with a final score of 27-62.
The starting five for the OPH Wildcats were Riley Blank, Max Lewis, Graydon Kincaid, Rowen Bailey, and Trevan Webster. In the first quarter OPH only scored 9 points, which was the largest amount of points we would score in each quarter. Overall it was the best quarter for defense as well because the Wildcats would hold the Bobcats to a score of 9-15.
In the second quarter, the Bobcats would begin to get even more ahead with their lead, and they would also stay in good standing until the end. At halftime the score was 14-32. Max and Graydon had 2 points each, and Rowan Bailey had 1 point in the second quarter.
During the second half of the game, things did not get any better for the Wildcats. The Bobcats would outscore the Wildcats by 12 points in the third quarter, with the score being 21-51. In the forth quarter, Will Callaway scored 4 points, and Callum Roeder had 2 points. Like stated in the beginning of the article, the final score was 27-62.
While this loss was a tough one, the boys played their best and will keep their heads up for the upcoming games. This Friday the OPH Wildcats will play Dieterich in Oblong at 6 pm. If you aren’t able to make it to that game, they boys also play Saturday and Monday in Oblong at 6 pm.
