On Tuesday October 30th, the junior class, members of Ms. Cutright’s U. S. History class, took a field trip to historic St. Louis to visit the Arch museum. Originally they were supposed to go to the Cahokia Mounds, but Ms. Cutright was very interested in this museum and decided to take her class here instead.

Entrance was free and once inside, students had to complete an assignment during the trip. In the museum there were six exhibits explaining colonial St. Louis and the creation of the arch. Each student had to take a picture of at least one artifact in the exhibits and the information about it and then were to write a 3 page paper about the entire trip.

Students learned a lot about 19th century St. Louis, even though they were there for just one hour. They were split up into groups with a chaperone and were sent out to explore the museum. Students encountered many old artifacts that turned out to be quite interesting. Once everyone had completed their assignments students went to check out the gift shop, which had clothes, souvenirs, and a place where you could buy fudge. Everyone said they enjoyed the trip; they just wish we could have stayed longer!
