On Wednesday December 6th, the OPH girls basketball JV team had a game against Robinson. While this was only the third game that the JV girls have had this year, everyone was excited to be able to play. This year there are not a lot of schools that have both JV and Varsity teams.
Alyssa Tipton, Francesca Comandini, Sam Meese, Gemma Gonzalez, and Alayna Snider were the five starters for the OPH Wildcats. While it may have been a rough start for the five starters, the bench rotated in quite a bit to try to make things better. Although the players that came off the bench were also having a rough time in the game, not a single person gave up. Everyone tried their hardest in the game, and all the spectators are proud of the players for trying their best. The most important thing to remember about JV is that the games are teaching and preparing the players for what is to come in the future.
It was the first full game that senior Cydney Pethtel was able to play in. Since she has been out for the first month and a half of the season, due to trying to recover from an injury, Coach Kidwell thought that Cydney would benefit from getting some playing time in the JV games. Cydney is so glad to be back and able to play basketball again. She knows that it isn’t going to be easy coming back this late, but that it will be worth it in the long run.
