Every year the Palestine High School hosts a Veteran’s Day program to honor our community’s veterans. It was held this year in the High School Gym on November 9th @2:15. The 5th-8th graders from the Grade School also made a trip over to the high school to be a part of the program.
This year’s program was opened by Mrs. Bailey, and followed by a performance by the Band, who performed the “The Star Spangled Banner.” We then heard a message from our guest speaker, Chester “Chet” Lewis. The chorus sang “God Bless the USA,” and then Mrs Bailey introduced the veterans who were present to everyone. Next, Alyssa Nethery read her VOD essay and Natalie Yargus, Brylee Tingley, and Lily Bedwell read their thank you letters to the Veterans. Lastly, Mrs Bailey gave out the final statements to end the program.
PHS students that are in Mrs Inboden’s Family and Consumer Sciences classes helped make the refreshments for the Veterans and their families to enjoy at the end of the program. The PHS history class also made the decorations for the program as well.
We are all so thankful for everything veterans have done to help this country. We know that without them we wouldn’t have as much freedom as we do, so being able to put on a program to help honor and thank them in person is a great feeling.
Thank you, veterans again for everything that you have done for us and our country!
