For the past three years of my football cheer career some of the best moments happened at team feed. Team feed was a time to chill with our team and get to know one another, especially time for the football players and cheerleaders to come together.
Very strong feelings were had when the cheerleaders found out that we wouldn’t be having team feeds this season, and the team feeds they did have, the cheerleaders wouldn’t be invited to. Whether it was a distraction for the boys the night before a game, or whether it was a lack of funds, the cheerleaders were very upset they wouldn’t be participating in team feeds this season.
This week was our last week of practice for this season and our last game. We cheerleaders were still upset over the fact we hadn’t gotten together for a team feed yet, so our cheer coach, Jessi Will, took it upon herself to make it happen. In the past there was usually a week where the cheerleaders would handle team feed and we would bring in the food. So this is what we did. Tacos were on the menu for the night before our last game together. To make it like old times, we invited the football players. The cheerleaders were all to bring something in order to make this work. The freshman brought tortillas and napkins. The sophomores brought cheese and plates. The juniors brought sweet tea or lemonade and cups. The seniors brought chips and dessert was optional.
Overall, the first and last team of the season was a huge success thanks to Mrs. Will.
Good luck to the Wildcats tonight as they play their last game of the season tonight in Tuscola.
