It’s time for fall, and as with every fall, that also means it’s time to cozy up under a blanket with a good book, such as We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger, a fun twist on the classic children’s book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen. That is what Family Art and Reading Night are for!
First, we go get some caramel apple slices with nuts, chocolate, or candy pieces, along with some tasty apple cider. I love apple cider.
Storytime! I wonder if they knew the book was upside down?
Let’s make a cute pumpkin! They took a piece of wood, placed a pumpkin sticker on it, and then gave it a silly face.
Then we looked for the Golden Acorn for a prize. They searched through a box of leaves and pinecones to find two Golden Acorns for a prize. Warning though-there were some deceptively normal acorns too!
Now we go and play some games such as candy corn bowling and bean bag toss. She did not get a strike.
Make sure to take a photo before you leave! I took mine with one of my junior high teachers!
Lastly, we did leaf rubbings with the Art Club. We placed leaves underneath a piece of white paper, and rolled a crayon over it; it’s like a magic trick!
