Palestine’s favorite weekend is coming up this weekend: Labor Day weekend. Labor Day weekend is full of fun events from Friday September 1st until Monday September 4th.
Starting Friday night is the first Rodeo Performance at 7 pm, then on Saturday is when the day gets busy.
Starting Saturday morning at 7 am is the Chuckwagon Breakfast on Main Street, along with Shelby Jones performing at the Pavilion. Along with that you have the Street Madness going from 7 am-4 pm, not to mention Main Street is completely sold out from Vendors. There is an Antique Gas Engine Exhibit & Swap Meet which takes place all day long, and at Palestine High School there is the Crawford County Model Railroaders from 8 am – 4 pm. Also at the High School there will be a Collector’s Belts Buckle Auction starting at 9:30 am. Moving on to later in the morning, starting at 10 am the Jr Tractor Pull is located on main street. Registration for that is 9-10 am. After that “Lunch With the Clowns” goes from 11:30 am – 1 pm. Shelby Jones will be back performing at the Pavilion starting at 12 pm – 5 pm. Between those times the Little Labor Day Pageant will be on the Pavilion starting at 3 pm. The second to last thing that’s happening on this busy day is the performance of Muddy Creek & Co at Band Shell in the park from 3 pm – 5 pm. Lastly starting at 7 pm is the second Rodeo performance.
Sunday’s schedule is less busy, but there’s still plenty to do. Starting at 10:15 am down at the Park is the Annual Church Service with Scott Mendenhall. The Crawford County Model Railroaders will be at the Palestine High School again at the same time, 8 am – 4 pm. The Miss Labor Day Pageant will take place on Main St at the Pavilion at 2 pm. Also starting at 2 pm is the “Keepin it Simple” performance at the band shell down at the park with Jeff Besing, and that will end at 4 pm. Then the last thing happening that day is the last Rodeo Performance.
Monday, the last day of the long weekend is the Annual Labor Day Parade. This will start at 10 am, and the Pre-Parade Entertainment is TBA for that morning. Palestine LOVES this time of the year, and I know so many people are looking forward for the chaos that comes with it!
