Homecoming may look a little different this year.
The topic is very controversial right now, but some are wanting to try something new. This year, for the first time, the Homecoming dance may follow the Palestine homecoming football game that takes place on October 13th at 7 pm. The dance would be located at the grade school pavilion on the west side of Palestine Grade School after the football game, around 9pm. The faculty at PHS would ask Chief Besing if curfew can be extended until 12am. The dress code would not be formal, so jeans would be allowed. This is also something new, and has been a very controversial topic at the school.
Mr Smith, PHS biology teacher says, “This used to be how we did it, and I enjoyed it. Winter Ball and Prom will still be formal and the same as every year. I also like the idea of the crowning of queen and king, the game, and dance on the same night.”
Many seniors are against this, especially football players and cheerleaders.
Jack Hawkins, a senior football player says, “I would prefer not to play a football game and have to get ready for a dance in such a small amount of time.”
If the dance is like every year, it will be on Saturday the 14th. This topic is still up in the air, but will be decided next week after class officers are picked according to principal Mr. Will! Either way, we hope to see everyone attend.
