Tree Project

Chance M Wilber, Editor

As many have noticed all of the trees on the east side of the school were cut down over the summer. Some of the trees were starting to die, and the roots were beginning to crack the parking lot causing it to affect people’s driving in the parking lot.

Recently, the high school was looking to purchase 10 trees to replace the ones that were cut down, and they were asking for $200 to purchase the tree and a plaque. All 10 of these trees and their plaques were paid for by sponsors in our community within 24 hours of sending out the announcement. These trees will be planted on Arbor Day by the PHS staff and a select few of the students.

PHS has also also been awarded a grant to start a hydroponic wall inside of the high school. This allows the students to plant seeds and take care of them for a long time and then eventually the seeds will be transported outside to the greenhouse. Once the plants have reached max growing potential they will be distributed throughout the community. This will help our Culinary arts classes and Biology classes to have more of a hands on experience with growing their own products.
