Historical Dinner at the FIFE

Guest Speaker Richard Day

Chance M Wilber, Editor

On Monday, October 17th, the Palestine Preservation Projects Society had their biannual meeting and invited the Palestine Pay It Forward to come to the dinner and hear a guest speaker. The guest speaker was Richard Day who spoke on the freed Negro colony that was located near Palestine in the early 1800s. Along the way of talking about this colony he also touched on events that happened locally in Palestine.

Not only was there a guest speaker, but there was also a dinner that consisted of homemade meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, salad, bread board, brussel sprouts, and pie. Everyone that went to the evens was automatically entered into the drawing for door prizes. Some of our fellow Pay It Forward members won a couple of the door prizes that were available to win.

Pay It Forward recently helped out PPPS members do yardwork at the Harper House, and the two groups plan to work together soon to sort through old photographs stored at the Fife Opera House.
