GroundHog Day

As we all know, February 2, 2022 is groundhog day! Now many people probably don’t know how it originated, but that’s no problem because I am here to tell you. It derives from the Pennsylvanian Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day see its shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den and winter will persist for six more weeks; if it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early. We are supposed to get about 5-8 inches of snow later on this week so thing are going to get a little bit interesting. Personally, I like spring more than winter so lets hope the groundhog doesn’t see his shadow so we can have spring come early. In conclusion, groundhog day is just a cool/fun tradition that first started on February 2, 1887, and hopefully it continues to be a tradition for hundreds of more years.
